Announcing Our Keynote Speaker: Brian Cuban

We are thrilled to announce that Dallas-based attorney, author, addiction recovery advocate, and Pittsburgh native Brian Cuban will be our keynote speaker at the 2023 Pittsburgh Recovery Walk!

Brian has been in long-term recovery from alcohol, cocaine, and bulimia since 2007. His lived experience with both addiction and body dysmorphic disorder provides a unique perspective on the intersectionality of mental health and substance use disorders.

Brian’s story is one of hope and inspiration. By sharing his experiences openly and honestly, he has broken down barriers and encouraged others to seek help and support. Cuban’s advocacy work promotes understanding, compassion, and acceptance within our society.

Through his compelling memoirs, including Shattered Image: My Triumph Over Body Dysmorphic Disorder and The Addicted Lawyer: Tales of the Bar Booze, Blow, and Redemption, he has shed light on the challenges he has faced and the transformative power of recovery.

The younger brother of Dallas Mavericks owner, entrepreneur, and Shark Tank “shark” Mark Cuban, Brian has emerged as a leading figure in the mental health and addiction recovery community, sharing his personal experiences and tirelessly working to break down the stigmas surrounding these issues. His journey is one of resilience, courage, and ultimately, triumph.

The Penn State University and University of Pittsburgh School of Law graduate has spoken at conferences, non-profit events, colleges, and universities across the United States and in Canada. He also writes extensively with columns that have appeared on CNN.com, Foxnews.com, The Huffington Post, and The New York Times.

Brian’s personal journey and inspirational message will undoubtedly inspire and empower attendees at this year’s event. We hope to see you there!
