Biography
Eric Hulsey, DrPH, MA serves as the Executive Director of the Institute for Research, Education and Training in Addictions (IRETA) in Pittsburgh whose mission is to help people respond effectively to substance use and related problems. Prior to this role, he served as Senior Technical Advisor: Drug Use Epidemiology and Data with Vital Strategies, the lead implementation partner of the Bloomberg Overdose Prevention Initiative in seven target states.
A long-term resident of Pittsburgh, Eric has over 20 years of experience in behavioral health and has been involved in overdose prevention efforts for most of that time. He has led behavioral health analytics at Allegheny County Department of Human Services and substance use service innovation within the HealthChoices (Medicaid) program. He is also a former family therapist who worked with kids and families involved in child welfare and juvenile justice.
He currently serves on the boards of ONALA Recovery Center and Staunton Farm Foundation and is a former board president of Prevention Point Pittsburgh and IRETA. He was also an original member of the Pittsburgh Recovery Walk’s Steering Committee and is always amazed at how the PRW community has grown.
