Biography

Corey O’Connor is serving his third term representing Pittsburgh City Council District 5. During his time on Council, Corey has worked collaboratively with his fellow Council Members and other elected officials in the County and State. His legislative accomplishments include: establishing the City’s HIV/AIDS Commission; creating regulations to incorporate medical marijuana zoning into the City; coordinating community input to craft comprehensive amendments to legislation creating a City Land Bank; allocating $2 million dollars for early childhood education; passing commonsense firearm regulations; investing heavily in green infrastructure and flooding mitigation projects; and passing the Paid Sick Days Act, which is the first in the State.

Corey chairs Council’s Committee on Public Safety Services and serves on several boards, including ALCOSAN, the Children’s Home of Pittsburgh and the Lemieux Family Center, the Holocaust Center of Greater Pittsburgh, First Tee of Pittsburgh, and the Cancer Caring Center.

Corey is the youngest of Pittsburgh’s late Mayor Bob O’Connor and Judy O’Connor’s three children. He resides in Swisshelm Park with his wife, Katie.
