The Pittsburgh recovery community includes many paths to recovery and several of these varied groups will be represented at the Recovery Walk.
Recovery Dharma uses the Buddhist practices of meditation, self-inquiry, wisdom, compassion, and community as tools for recovery and healing. Self-Management and Recovery Training, or SMART, Recovery is open to anyone seeking science-based, self-empowered addiction recovery. Both Recovery Dharma and SMART Recovery hold local, free and open mutual support meetings.
As a Recovery Community Organization, Message Carriers provides “advocacy and recovery related services to individuals and family members impacted by addiction and/or mental health disorders.” Additionally, Onala Recovery Center, which is located in the West End of Pittsburgh, “provides the community with a facility that offers an environment of recovery from alcohol, drug and other addictions through education, social interaction and fellowship.”
Stop by these booths and learn more about their programs and the services they offer.
