Support for Family Members

If your child, parent, or other family member is seeking recovery or currently dealing with addiction, you do not have to work through the stress and challenges alone. Groups and systems are in place to ensure that people who find themselves offering support feel supported themselves. Being able to speak with other people who understand what you’re going through can help a lot.

The Pittsburgh Recovery Walk will feature three organizations sharing information on family support. The Bridge to Hope is an outreach program of the Passavant Hospital Foundation and holds weekly support groups for those affected by the addiction of a loved one. Also present will be two 12-Step fellowships, Nar-Anon and Al-Anon for family and friends of people addicted to drugs or alcohol. Both of these groups have peer-support meetings all over the world, including several right here in Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas.
